What is New York without all the breath-taking rooftops?  The New York skyline is not only an amazing backdrop to your proposal, but will make for incredible photography. One of our most recent proposals took place at Ink48’s Heaven Over Hell penthouse, and luxurious, breath-taking, and unforgettable would be the three words to describe using this venue for your proposal.

3. Helicopter Proposal

And speaking of the New York skyline, if a rooftop isn’t high enough- how about flying over it? A helicopter ride is one of the most thrilling and exciting proposal ideas and as long as your partner isn’t afraid of heights, it’ll be an unforgettable experience.

4. Boat Proposal

The city is great, but don’t be afraid to get away from it slightly for your proposal. Another wonderful proposal idea is a romantic boat ride. An obvious choice but a classic, Central Park has so many different amazing locations for a surprise proposal. And speaking of all-things-romance, we put together some of our favorite “how to’s” when proposing in Dallas. From romantic gondola rides, to picture-perfect rooftops, to intimate gardens, to diverse restaurants and everything in between, there’s proposal magic in all corners of Dallas. But it’s not just where you propose, but how. You don’t know yet? Like Sam the Onion Man, we can fix that.

Our knowledge comes from experience and after shooting over three-thousand proposals, experience is our middle name. Just ask all our past couples! Just to give you some ideas, here are some of our favorites.

1. Passport to Venice

Except you don’t need an actual passport. Gondola Adventures offer authentic and scenic gondola cruises through Mandalay Canals, steered by your very own gondolier (some can even serenade the cruise with love songs). The company partners with local caterers to provide customers with a wide range of cuisine. We’ll schedule your partner’s favorite meal with some bubbly champagne and delicious sweets. Didn’t your mother ever tell you not to propose on an empty stomach? Toast to eternal love and the promise of forever and of course, to the moment they say “yes!”

2. Just Like a Movie

Some people advise not to hold expectations to what’s shown on TV. Paparazzi Proposals agrees, aim higher. With the right help and planning, a proposal can be movie-like magic. Michael’s girlfriend Cinnamon loved the show The Bachelor and that became the inspiration behind his proposal.  We arranged for a limo to drive her to a surprise romantic dinner at the famous Floreciendo Garden Estate. A hundred lit candles greeted Cinnamon’s arrival and Michael’s close friend (role playing the part of Chris Harrison, The Bachelor host) escorted her from the limo to the proposal location. This queued yet another one of Michael’s close friends to begin playing one of Cinnamon’s favorite songs on the guitar. Michael came out, reading a love letter he had written and presented her with a rose. As he got down to one-knee, Cinnamon couldn’t help but scream “Yes!” several times before Michael could even finish the sentence. And the surprise wasn’t over. Michael arranged for forty of their family and friends to surprise her with a celebration inside.

3. On Top of Dallas

Don’t just propose in Dallas, but make it the backdrop to the proposal. A bouquet of roses and a bottle of champagne awaited the arrival of Ryan’s girlfriend. Oh, and Ryan down on one knee with a diamond ring. The Dallas skyline illuminated Ryan’s proposal and created the perfect romantic ambiance. To make a rooftop proposal even better, plan for a surprise celebration afterwards with friends and family. Or if you want to keep the night intimate, we can also arrange a delicious catered dinner to accompany the stunning view.

4. Pictures of You

A picture is worth a thousand words, so make your proposal worth a million. Cliff chose a beautiful garden to hang an entire timeline of memories and experiences shared with his girlfriend. Upon Danielle’s arrival, holding hands, they walked past each photo, reminiscing on each special moment from their relationship. As Danielle wiped tears from her eyes, Cliff proposed. And to add to the timeline, he had Paparazzi Proposals photograph the memory of all memories.

5. The First Time

There’s nothing quite like the first time and this can apply to almost anything. Just think back to your first kiss or first time riding a bike. The second or third are easier to forget, but the first is always engraved. Nick chose to propose to Susanne at the classroom they first met at the University of Texas. The first time can be extended to your first kiss, your first date, ect. Just choose the first that you treasure most and leave the rest of the work to us.

1. The Stone Arch Bridge

Probably one of the most romantic locations in Minneapolis (and the world), the Stone Arch Bridge is the only one of its kind, overlooking the Mississippi River. 2. Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

One of Minneapolis’ crown jewels, The Sculpture Garden is a melting pot of nature, art, culture, and romance. 3. Rice Park, St. Paul

If you don’t trust our judgement, St. Paul was recently declared “Best Romantic North American Getaway” in a poll by USA Today.  Within the heart of downtown St. Paul, Rice Park during the holidays is covered in lights and makes a radiating place for a proposal. It also acts as center stage for the St. Paul Winter Carnival, which features a palace made of ice, parades, an ice-bar, and loads of entertainment. The park features a stunning fountain and is surrounded by the Saint Paul Hotel, Landmark Center, Ordway and the Downtown Central Library.

4. Mill City Museum

Built into the ruins of what was once the world’s largest flour mill, Mill City Museum oozes with old-world romance. It’s located in front of the Mississippi Riverfront and described as “a unique concoction of raw power, dramatic views and hands-on fun.” This location guarantees for a memorable and stunning proposal. 

5. Rooftop Proposal

A great way to include the stunning Minneapolis skyline view is a rooftop proposal. From Union Rooftop, Uptown Tavern, Libertine and 4 Bells, there’s an abundance of great rooftop spots to surprise your partner with a proposal. If you want extra romance, add on a musician to serenade the moment from our packages. It’s also a practical way of being able to celebrate with food and cocktails afterwards. Add to the surprise by inviting friends and family, just be sure they remain hidden until the big moment.

1. Toronto Islands Proposal

The Toronto Islands are a chain of small islands in the city of Toronto. If the weather is right, start with a romantic ferry trip, as the islands are located just offshore from the city centre. From downtown Toronto, Tom and Virginia were just a short trip away, and chose to visit Ward Island, which is actually one of the less visited islands, providing a more intimate setting. To spice things up, Tom had us schedule for a violinist to be on shore, appearing to busk. After Virginia threw her a dollar, the violinist followed the couple down a small path, playing their favorite love song the whole way. (What a coincidence!) The trees opened up to a clearing at the beach and the city of Toronto was laid out beautifully in front of them, which made the perfect backdrop for Tom to propose. Tom also had a romantic picnic setup with champagne, and the island also offers recreational activities, such as bike rentals, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats.

2. Nature Lovers Proposal

If your partner absolutely loves nature, make your proposal green. Joseph chose the Allan Gardens Conservatory, as the beautifully green setting for his surprise proposal. With the sun streaming through the newly blossoming trees of the gardens,  Joseph and James wandered through the 100-year-old greenhouse’s grounds. The glass-encased tropical oasis added an extra level of romance to this already perfect proposal. Toronto blooms in the summer, making it a great time for any nature setting proposal. Another great spot would be Glen Stewart Park, a lovely nature getaway near the Upper Beaches. It offers plenty of intimacy and a stunning summer scenery. 

3. Sky Banner Proposal

Sometimes you don’t just want to tell them, but show them. Gerard had us coordinate his proposal to be put on a banner and flown across the sky, for Allison and the entire city to see. Though, your proposal doesn’t have to be laid out in the clouds to be perfect, but putting your love in written words adds extra romance and shows effort. Whether it’s via a timeless romantic letter or having your love painted on a giant cardboard sign, it’s important to remember it’s what the words symbolize, and not how much money was spent.

4. Adventure Proposal

We’ve put together our top five pros and cons for the best proposal ideas on Valentine’s Day.  Having shot and witnessed hundreds of proposals, we can guide you to the perfect Valentine’s Day proposal.  

Here’s our top five, starting with the number one Valentine’s Day marriage proposal.

1. Central Park

Fill the day with romance by booking a horse and carriage ride through the park.  Snuggle up under a warm blanket until you reach Bethesda Fountain.  Once there, stroll over to Bow Bridge, one of the most romantic bridges in Central Park all while being captured by our photographer.  Afterwards, head to the Boathouse for a a celebratory hot toddy.

Cons:

Good luck trying to get a reservation.

4. At Home Proposal

Propose from the comfort of your own home.  This one’s a no-brainer.  It’s innately romantic and easy to keep as a complete surprise.  Set up candles and a pathway of rose petals to where you’re waiting on bended knee. Have us come in and set up hidden cameras to capture the moment.

Pros:

It’s super private.

Cons:

It’ll take some extra creativity to make this proposal out of the ordinary.  Luckily, we can help you out with that.

5. Screw the Cold Weather.  Fly to Miami!

Get out of town with a vacation and a marriage proposal all in one. Heat up the romance by flying south for the winter with a Miami marriage proposal.  Once you’ve had a chance to thaw out shoreside with mojitos in hand, head to a secluded spot on the beach to propose.

Pros:

What’s not to love about a beach proposal when it’s minus 30 in Manhattan.

Cons:

Spring break.

Lili and Mike’s proposal story is modern-meets-classic romance.  It began with a dating app and grew with love letters.  The most recent chapter: this stunning sunset rooftop proposal in the Meatpacking District‘s Maritime Hotel Penthouse Terrace Suite.

Tea light candles and a path of rose petals added to the room’s already magical atmosphere.  When Lili got to the room, Mike was waiting for her.  He knelt down on one knee, presented Lili with an absolutely stunning ring from Rubin Trading— and she said yes!

A little over a year ago, Mike and Lili were matched up on a dating app that connected people based on mutual friendships, and immediately struck up an engaging conversation.

Lili asked their mutual friend about Mike, and was advised that he was a great guy and that she should take their relationship to the next level–by meeting with him face to face.

Mike remembers everything about their first date, down to the day, date and location: March 23, 2014, at Crave Fish Bar on 2nd Avenue.  Lili said Mike’s striking blue eyes and kind nature had her falling immediately.  Mike was instantly attracted to her beauty and the way in which she carried herself.

“She presented herself with a refined elegance and just seemed so well put-together,” he said.   “She was very driven in life and with her career.  She had an amazing smile and seemed to have a very kind heart.  She is the total package and everything just felt very natural with us from the start.”

While they didn’t necessarily know right away that they had both found The One, the pivotal moment that let both of them know that their strong connection was growing into a long and lasting love was an epic, month-long trip to Europe for a friends’ wedding that Lili had planned long before meeting Mike.

Shortly before the trip, their relationship had just become “official,” which had them both wondering: would they be missing each other like crazy, or would the spark fizzle out while Lili travelled abroad?

Before leaving, it already seemed like things were becoming more serious. Lili and Mike surprised each other with gifts, and exchanged letters– one to open for each day they were apart from each other.

They said the trip seemed like an eternity for them both.  By the time it was over they were overjoyed to be reunited.

“I’ve never been so happy to see someone as I was when she turned the corner walking out of that airport terminal!” Said Mike, recalling the day she returned.

As their relationship grew, Mike knew he had to plan something as perfect as their love to ask Lili for her hand in marriage.  He settled for the night of Lili’s birthday for the big surprise and set about making it a truly memorable event. He hired professional hair and make up artists from GlamSquad to arrive at Lili’s apartment that afternoon to get her and her two friends dolled up for what Lili thought was just a special celebration. Meanwhile, he and his sister Kellie decorated the room.  He contacted Tao Downtown to deliver a beautiful dinner straight to the rooftop suite, and made reservations at the nearby restaurant Revel, where Lili’s friends and the couple’s immediate family members would join up with the two of them afterwards for a birthday celebration turned mini-engagement party.

It was a lot of work, and not much time, but the evening was perfect– and Paparazzi Proposals captured every moment!
