Matthew and Michelle met in the summer of 2007 through a mutual friend, who had an epiphany one day and thought that they would make a great couple. They talked a little before actually meeting in person, and eventually met face-to-face outside of a pizza place one afternoon before Matt headed into the city that evening to see a band. “We ended up talking for so long that Matt missed the train to the city, but he obviously didn’t mind.”

Michelle was drawn to Matthew’s confidence and smile. “He has the most amazing smile that you can’t help but to be filled with warmth and happiness when you see it. He can light up a whole room and my whole heart just by himself and giving a big grin!” Michelle has always wanted to have a picnic at Central Park, but Matthew always partially blew it off, partly because he’s not the best organizer, and partly because he wanted to save it for a special day. Also, in high school and college he played and sang in bands, but never really sang to Michelle. She always would ask him to sing for her, but he never would out of embarrassment. Tina didn’t suspect anything out of the ordinary, since the Park was one of their favorite date spots.  After a leisurely stroll to Bow Bridge, they stumbled across a gorgeous picnic spread where Cecil popped the question!

We caught up with Tina and Cecil to hear the story behind this beautiful fall marriage proposal!

How did you two meet?

Cecil: It all started in July 2014 with the Facebook message  “Are you a Star Wars fan?”

We had many mutual friends and her Yoda cover photo stuck out to me! I was immediately interested. We were both originally from New York but living in different parts of California at the time. After months of messaging we finally met in New York while visiting family for the Christmas holiday. We decided to meet for coffee at Starbucks.

It was love at first sight for me.  I found myself completely enticed by her as the hour flew by too quickly. I was initially attracted to Tina’s beauty and gorgeous smile. What I really liked about her was that she was a programmer and I knew we would have a lot in common.

When did you know that they were the one?

Cecil:

Her sweet personality, her natural loving and caring instincts had always made me feel special. I knew she was the one the first time she wanted to make dinner for me on May 22nd 2015. We stayed in her apartment and had a dinner and painting night. I had never really painted before but it turned out to be more fun than I thought. It was a simple, fun, laid back Friday night that made me realize I could see myself spending the rest of my life with this woman.

Tina:

I knew right away he was very special to me. Our values and goals aligned perfectly.  There hasn’t been a single day he hasn’t FaceTimed with me! A couple of hours of Facetime always felt like a couple of minutes for me. He always made me feel attractive, special, and I noticed that I started wearing a big smile on my face for no apparent reason.

  I knew I couldn’t pass on this one!

Why did you choose to propose where you did?

We both enjoy the outdoors and had come a couple times to the park on dates so I knew Central Park would be a great place to propose. I had suggestions from friends but I liked the picnic proposal idea better after seeing Paparazzi Proposals’ picnic proposal package on the website, and knew it was the perfect option!

Of course, our photographer discreetly snapped away as Cecil dropped to one knee and presented her with a stunning engagement ring from Vincente Jewelers!  After the initial shock wore off, Cecil introduced our photographer, who joined them for an incredible engagement shoot!

Jess loves the outdoors and the charm of Central Park.  With both of them having busy schedules, Adam knew a park proposal provided the best option for a special moment. With a quaint spread from Perfect Picnic NYC, Adam knelt down on one knee and presented his Jess with a stunning ring from Haas Designs— and she said yes!  After their big moment, the couple took a romantic stroll around the park to shoot engagement photos before meeting up with friends and family at a nearby Times Square restaurant.

Back in 2010, Adam was in his first year of dental school at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jess was discussing a research project in one of Adam’s classes.  As soon as he saw her, he knew she was The One.

His friends thought he was crazy for knowing so early on that he wanted to marry Jess, but the connection he felt with her was undeniable, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Todd really hit a home run with this classic, romantic proposal. After taking a stroll through the park, the two came upon a picnic blanket complete with flowers, food and champagne. As they sat down to enjoy themselves, Amy had no idea this wasn’t the only surprise Todd had up his sleeve. Sharing more about how she first fell for him, Yola said she was immediately drawn to how open he was and how willing he was to share. She was also smitten with his no-nonsense attitude and approach to life. Quickly, it was apparent he felt the same way. Within just 20 minutes of having left their first date, Donato text her “a novel,” as Yola playfully puts it, detailing how great he felt about their evening and how he couldn’t wait to spend more time with her. Their relationship quickly became a special one. In time, Donato was ready to make it even more special…

Lucas and Silvia’s love is so strong enough that it fought against long distance and has persevered.

Anyone who has been in a long distance relationship will tell you that it’s not easy. Long distance relationships may have more pessimists than optimists but the optimists that fight for their love are the one who we as a society awe in amazement at. They are the reason why we still believe in love. Lucas and Silvia’s love is the perfect example of how love can withstand the test of distance and come out winning despite it all. Lucas met his sweetheart Silvia while the two were in high school in Brazil. In case you’re wondering, yes, high school sweethearts still exist. But what’s peculiar about this terrific couple is that they were friends first. That’s what captivated Lucas. Silvia’s ability to be a friend before anything is what united them and they didn’t even know it.

When the time came for the two to choose their education, Silvia came to America to study and the two remained dating. Lucas then moved to the states and they’ve been together ever since till one day, Lucas wanted to push their relationship further. He wanted to ask for Silvia’s hand in marriage. He knew how much Silvia loves New York City and with Paparazzi Proposals there to guide him, this proposal was beautiful. Lucas was prepared with a stunning engagement ring from Tiffany’s to present to his love and to her surprise, she turned around and saw Lucas down on one knee. Lucas had FaceTimed Silvia’s dad previously asking for permission since they are back home in Brazil. Silvia’s surprise says it all. Congrats to the happy couple!
