For Alphie and Kate, the seaport by Brooklyn Bridge in New York would not only be a place of memories, but the place they got engaged!

“We first met in December ‘09 in Miami. I was visiting my best friend, Leah, in grad school, and he was one of her classmates who also lived on her floor. He had his lost luggage dropped off at Leah’s while he was in class. He soon came over and opened up the suitcase to discover that his grandma’s shrimp biryani had spoiled after sitting out in the Miami heat for 48 hours. Needless to say, it instantly stunk up the entire apartment! He then invited us to his apartment, and – not wanting to taint both apartments – promptly took off without the suitcase! I couldn’t really hold it against him, and we hung out over the next couple of days before we parted ways. We rekindled our chemistry when he moved to New York two years later, eventually started dating, and haven’t looked back since!”

Both Kate and Alphie were immediately drawn to each other’s smiles.

“I can think of several moments in the first few months we were dating where he said and did amazingly thoughtful things, which made me realize that he was the one. Most of all, he always makes me laugh and writes the best cards/texts/emails ever! I have a large collection that just keeps growing!”

“The Seaport was the site of many memories of our time in NYC, dating back to the early years of our relationship. We first moved in together not far from there, and walked and biked by the water during all hours of the day, a few times a week. We also frequented the Seaport’s dog park with our two mutts and, it seemed like an obvious choice – especially given the stellar views of the BK Bridge, which is another memorable landmark for us.”

Alphie purchased the striking ring from Greenwich St. Jewelers in New York City.

With Doug’s love and encouragement, Chana built the courage to get on the rink and, soon after, Doug built the courage to get down on one knee. Check out his full Rockefeller ice skating engagement proposal, here!

“Chana and I first met at her work.   She was a blackjack dealer for the Sands Casino, and I was simply a player. We met about 3 years ago, however, we both were involved in other relationships. During that 3 year period, I would always stop by her table or walk by and just give her a smile or tease her.  Sometimes, I would just look at her hand, as she was engaged at the time, but respectfully never pushed the issue. Her smile and personality was what attracted me, but I also had a lot of respect for her as a person. She would light up a room or brighten your day with that smile, and she always knew how to make you feel better.”

“So, this past May, I was just randomly speaking with her good friend Sarah, discussing my current single life status of 6 months, and she asked me who I liked.    Well, it was kind of funny because Sarah was a poker dealer, and Chana, now a Dual Rate Supervisor/dealer for the Sands, was working at the tables beside the poker room. Thus, I pointed to Chana. So, Sarah said to me, ‘You do realize Chana is single now and for several months.’  I almost fell off my chair and told her she really just rocked my world. A few weeks passed and, once again, I found myself playing poker, and Sarah was my dealer and going on break. Chana was working the same blackjack area beside the poker room and finally Sarah had enough of me just talking and begged me to just ask her out to dinner. She decided to take the ball into her own hands and went to speak to Chana and told her she is going to dinner and that I would  be over to ask her shortly. From that moment, the magic and attraction just blossomed for the both of us. We had a lot of fears, as we both came out of horrible relationships, but quickly those fears became our strengths, as we both knew what we always wanted and deserved. Now, here we are.”

“I chose Rockefeller Center in New York because its atmosphere is so romantic and festive for the holidays. I had some reservations because Chana has never ice skated and I knew she would be fearful because of a nasty break in her leg years back. Of course, I kept the whole idea a total surprise, as she is the most difficult person in the world to surprise and figures almost everything out. So, when we arrived and I told her, she wasn’t happy and did it with a lot of resistance. When we got on the ice, she held the rail, and we slowly worked our way around the ice. I tried to pull her off the rail and she was like, ‘Oh, hell no, I’ll stay against the rail.’ I knew getting her to the center of the rink wasn’t going to happen, so I stopped and told her I was tired in order to text Greg (the secret photographer from Paparazzi Proposals) that she wanted to get off the ice now, and she meant now. We passed the 1st exit and she said, ‘Sweetie, we can get off here.’ I told her no, not on an exit, as we were just about to get to the tree, so I texted Greg again and said it’s happening at the rail in front of the statue and, thankfully, he was prepared.   I told her everything I wanted to say and dropped down to one knee and proposed. She was so excited for the engagement and so fearful of falling, that she actually forgot to answer me.  When I stood up, I whispered ‘Sweetie, you didn’t say yes yet.’ Upon this realization, she clung to the wall with that beautiful smile and said ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ That’s how our whole relationship has been.  We have our own unique, memorable moments. I am the luckiest man in the world.”

Peter surprised Maria with reservations to River Cafe, but suggested to walk by the jetty, which offers beautiful views of the water, the one-of-a-kind city skyline, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Read below for their love story on how they met and, eventually, became engaged!

Peter and Maria met during sophomore year at St. John’s University while taking a Greek language course for an ‘easy A’. Little did they know that in addition to getting A’s, they would also find the person to spend the rest of their lives with.

Peter was (and still is) most attracted to her personality and her big beautiful eyes. Maria loves how tall he is and, from the beginning, thought he was very good looking and funny. 

Soon enough, they both knew that they had found the one.

“Once we knew that we could tolerate each other’s craziness and pet peeves, we knew that we would end up spending the rest of our lives together,” Maria says.  “And the fact that we can both watch and recite episodes of Friends over and over again…it was a done deal!”

Peter chose to propose at the River Cafe because they have been planning to eat there for quite sometime now.

He says, “Maria loves to see the skyline and Brooklyn bridge, and this was the perfect place to pop the big question.”

1. A Slice of Love

For the past two years, Josh and Lindy had been traversing all five boroughs to visit NYC’s 25 most iconic pizza places. Fast-forward 24 pizza restaurants later, they were only missing one. Given how central a role pizza has played in their lives, Josh knew pizza should be a central theme in his engagement proposal. He set up a trail of empty pizza boxes, each with a written memory from a time that he knew he loved her along with photos. The trail of pizza boxes took Lindy down memory lane, reliving unforgettable moments in their relationship. It was during the beginning of their relationship that they realized all the missed connections and the weird coincidences that had to happen for them to find each other. We spoke with Michael to see what inspired his incredibly romantic marriage proposal, and to learn more about how the couple met and fell in love! Their truly touching love story, as told by the future groom.

How They Met:

We met at work actually. I was working for a different franchise company that required training at the location she had worked at. I was there for 6 weeks and we got along great while I was there but were both dating other people at the time and kind of parted ways after I was done training. We kept in touch via Facebook but rarely.

Fate had it that I was transferred back to her store about a year and a half later and we worked together frequently until the day where both of our other relationships became rocky and we started confiding in each other and then it turned into this!

When I first started training at her store she was honestly the only thing I could focus on. The first thing I think that really attracted me to her was her eyes and her personality. She was kind and welcoming even though I was the new guy. I remember the first time she was upset at work because she was dealing with a rude guest and I hugged her and never wanted to let go. From that point on in the 4, almost 5 years we worked together we made it a point to hug each other each shift way before we even started dating.

How He Knew:

The moment I knew she was the one and I think she would agree was when I was leaving work, she was already home. We had never saw each other outside of work and she invited me to come over and talk. Neither of us expected anything besides the fact that we had a great friendship. We sat in her basement talking and awkwardly watching TV until I kissed her out of nowhere. From that moment I knew I never wanted to kiss anyone else!

The New York Wedding Proposal:

Michael booked our Times Square Big Screen Proposal Package to have his proposal message displayed on the screen as he dropped to one knee!

I proposed to her in Times Square because we both love going into Manhattan. We’ve gone to see multiple plays, ballets, museums, etc. When we were talking briefly about what she would like out of a proposal and she said that it had to be something, special, unique and that nobody else would ever consider.

So through you guys I set up the billboard in Times Square with the photographer. Outside of that I had a penthouse suite for the night with a balcony view directly across from the Empire State building. They set up champagne, and laid out rose petals on the bed and in the tub.

I had a private tour of the Museum of Modern Art set up for the next day as well as going to the wax museum where they made custom molds of our hands in wax forming a heart.

The ring I got custom made from Kay Jewelers. She had told me a long time ago that she like halo style rings so I had a double halo ring custom made with a 7/8 carats surrounding a 1 carat diamond in the middle.

I had her cousin on scene in Times Square to take pictures with us and be there, because they are close and she has always been supportive of our relationship.

I plan on adding the pictures from the day to our scrapbook and making a photo book of the entire weekend for my fiancée!

Craig: I proposed here as it is an iconic place which features my favorite movie, Home Alone, and as it’s Christmas there is no better place than under the Rockefeller Christmas tree, even though I can’t ice skate very well and was terrified I would slip whilst getting down on one knee!

How They Met:

Craig: It was the 15th of March 2014 when we met. I was at the gym and happened to bump into an old friend I hadn’t seen for years. We got to talking and he told me he was going on a night out for a coworkers birthday, and asked me if I wanted to come along. The girl who’s birthday party it was happened to be Melanie, my fiancé. She seemed very fun, outgoing, and was easy to get on with.

Melanie: It was love at first sight to be honest. I saw his piercing blue eyes and cheeky smile. We started talking and I really fell in love with his sense of humour.

How They Knew:

Craig: I’m a huge West Ham football fan. For our second date, she surprised me with tickets to see them play!

Melanie: I knew he was the one as we were such similar people, and it seemed like we were just best friends who knew each other our whole lives. 

That Engagement Ring!:

Craig picked out the perfect engagement ring for Melanie at Beaverbrooks in England.

How They Met:

Ian opted for our Proposal Photography package, and added on a post-proposal portrait session.

The stars aligned to bring this couple together!  Ian was visiting New York City from Toronto with his brothers and cousins for the long 4th of July weekend.  The group decided to spend the night in style, getting a table at the Hudson Terrace night club and restaurant.

Standing atop a neighboring table was Natasha.

She glanced over and caught his gaze before she was asked to step down from the tabletop.

Once she was back on ground level, they pair ended up standing with their backs to one another and Ian could see that she was uncomfortable as she was jostled around in the busy crowd.  So, he moved to redirect the crowd to keep them from bumping into her.

Natasha noticed his act of kindness and turned around to thank him.  She was impressed his good looks and the small silver cross he wore around his neck— faith is important to both of them, and the necklace was an instant draw!

After their initial connection, they were encouraged by family and friends to continue chatting, and struck up an easy conversation that lasted the whole evening.

Their personalities, interests and values blended together seamlessly. 

Right away, Ian knew he had found someone special and within a few weeks of dating he felt that Natasha was The One, and as he got to know he better he became reassured that they were meant to be together, forever!

The Ring:

Ian purchased her gorgeous ring at Mahtani Jewelers

The Proposal:

Ian took it back to where it all began by choosing the spot for their first date as the location of their marriage proposal! The scenic Pier A in Hoboken boasts stunning views of the Manhattan skyline–which also made it a perfect backdrop for some absolutely stunning surprise engagement photography.

Friends and family helped him coordinate getting Natasha to the proposal location while keeping the whole plan a secret!  And of course, Paparazzi Proposals helped him finalize the picture-perfect spot, and discreetly photographed Natasha’s reaction when he dropped to one knee!

Their Story:

Javier and Marimar met eight years ago and shared an instant connection.
