How They Met:

Ryan and Katherine first met at a University of Kentucky football tailgate on a warm September afternoon back in 2012.  Their mutual friend had invited each of them for a weekend away.  Katherine was in from Chicago, and Ryan from his small hometown Odessa, Texas.

As they watched the game, Ryan couldn’t take his eyes off of her.  He was mesmerized by her long, blonde, curly hair, and charmed by her warm personality.  The feeling was mutual.  Ryan says he believes that she was drawn in by the way he wore his cowboy hat and Wrangler jeans.  Conversation was easy at the game, and the pair hit it off over the course of the weekend.

When it was time for them to part ways, they had forged an unbreakable connection.  They started dating soon after.

How They Knew:

The couple fell deeper in love over the course of the next year as they dated long-distance. By the early spring of 2013, they both knew that they had something special. Ryan left his small town to move to the big city, heading up to Chicago to join Katherine and see what would unfold.

The Proposal:

Ryan wanted their proposal to commemorate their love story.  So, he chose the Cut, a bar and restaurant on the Chicago River, as the location for their engagement.  The restaurant had been the first place Katherine had shown him when he moved there and was a sentimental location for both of them.

He invited all of Katherine’s friends and family to wait nearby and join in after the big moment to celebrate, and pose for portrait shots.  He consulted Katherine’s best friend Laura for help planning Katherine’s dream engagement night.

And on a warm summer night, nearly three years after they first met, he dropped to one knee in front of the scenic La Salle Street Bridge, and presented her with a stunning ring from Rivard Jewelers.

She was completely surprised, and she could barely contain her joy as she said, “Yes!”

After the pair paused for some incredible portrait shots, she was surprised again when all of her friends and family joined to admire her ring, congratulate the couple, and join in some of the photos.  View their full photo slideshow, here.

Which is why he chose Millenium Park as the place for his romantic engagement, and had Paparazzi Proposals help him capture each magical moment!

After work last week, the couple strolled to the park, which is nearby Daniel’s office.  They admired the reflected view of the Chicago skyline in the “Bean” statue, before Daniel dropped down to one knee and presented her with a gorgeous ring.  Once she had said yes, he surprised her once more by letting her know that one of our sneaky snappers had captured every gorgeous moment!

The happily engaged couple then wandered into a nearby park for an engagement shoot.  Trellises and fields of lavender, contrasted against Chicago‘s modern skyline, provided a romantic backdrop.  The two kissed and embraced, celebrating their engagement while our photographer took photos to document the magic.

The two stopped for an inconspicuous stroll through Chicago’s Washington Square Park to take in the gorgeous, late spring scenery and the last rays of sun as it set over the skyline.  The pair stopped at a fountain, and before Charley knew it, Adam had dropped to one knee.

Bringing her hands to her face in joy and surprise, Charley watched as Adam reached into his pocket and presented her with an engagement ring. She said, “Yes!”

Smiling, the two kissed and embraced– and that’s when Adam revealed that he had worked with our team at Paparazzi Proposals to make sure that a hidden photographer captured each stunning moment!  After both of them were in on the secret, they continued on a stunning shoot around the park to commemorate the incredible occasion.

Backlit by the setting sun and their newly engaged glow, the couple left hand-in-hand to continue on to restaurant that Adam had made reservations at– their dinner date now a celebration of their engagement!

When dreaming up the perfect proposal, one of the sure-fire ways to make it even more memorable is to choose a location that has special meaning to you and your future fiancee. Knowing this, Corey selected the iconic Kinzie Street Bridge. When he and Erin had first moved into together, a huge step in their blossoming relationship, it was the first place in Chicago they fell in love with. They loved the view of the skyline it provided, and quickly became a symbol of this milestone in their relationship. However, it would soon be a part of an even bigger milestone!

Before we get to Corey’s heartwarming proposal, let’s learn more about how their beautiful relationship came to be. They first met close to 8 years ago while both attending the University of Iowa. It wasn’t long before these “hawkeyes” would have eyes for one another!

While hanging out at The Summit, a favorite local bar, they had a most unusual introduction. As Corey approached the dance floor, he was suddenly grabbed by the arm by a rather short girl. Before he knew it, he was being introduced as her boyfriend, clearly in an effort to save her from dancing with some guy she was not interested in. Intrigued and amused, he played along, and the two wound up dancing for hours.

Corey was immediately attracted by, as he puts it, “the sheer amount of personality that was beaming out of such a short individual!” He describes her as “infectious.” Oh, and being easy on the eyes didn’t hurt either! Erin was instantly taken by Corey’s good looks and charming personality. Within just the first few months of dating, he knew that she was “the one.” Almost 8 years later, he is still equally infatuated with her. Although he took a little longer to first ask her out than Erin had hoped, his cautious, measured approach to things is part of what made her fall in love for him.

So as rain dropped down from the clouds above, Corey dropped down to one knee. As he told her how much he loved her, he pulled out a gorgeous engagement ring, and asked Erin if she would marry him. One look at the amazing pictures from this magical afternoon and you will quickly know her answer!

However, knowing Danielle was a big April Fool’s prankster, he still wanted to have a little fun with her before the big moment. So when picking her up for the romantic date he planned, he did so in none other than her favorite car, a Tesla. Although he only rented it for the afternoon, he stuck a big red bow on it and was able to convince her that he leased it for the year!

That wasn’t the only “surprise” he had up his sleeve. Chicagoans take note, as this is one fantastic proposal idea! He drove her to Millenium Park, where he set up a romantic picnic right near the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, as known as “The Bean.” As they were just settling in on the picnic blanket, Ben made his move. Slowly getting onto one knee he pulled out an absolutely stunning engagement ring from Hakimian Imports and Rose Estates Jewelers, and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with him. Curious as to what her answer was? The picture below says it all!

To hear the two of them share their love story is sublime. After being introduced by a mutual friend, their first date was at Bub City on Clark Street. Over a plate of Jalapeno Poppers and Cowboy Fries, the two laughed non-stop and quickly bonded. Danielle said she was instantly attracted to how genuine he was. “He was an old soul,” as she puts it, and she was enamored with how passionately he spoke of his friends and family. She was blown away by how much love he expressed for those close to him. Ben on the other hand, was immediately infatuated with her kindness and contagious energy. He was smitten with her smile and her ability to light up a room.  When asked the moment they knew the other was “the one,” both answered the exact same way. Family being so very important to them, they were both hooked when they met each-other’s family and saw the relationship they shared with them and how kind they all were. Talk about a perfect match!
