The surprise did not stop there, as the newly-engaged couple posed for a beautiful engagement portrait session after.

We also had a chance to speak with Chris, who shared with us how they met, and, inevitable, fell in love. From long distance to being together in New York City, with the skyline serving as the ultimate backdrop.

We first met through work back in 2015. We were both living and working in Canada up until October 2015, when I accepted a position in Bermuda. A couple days before shipping off to Bermuda for a 20 month work contract, we both learned that we liked each other, and so decided to give long-distance dating a shot. We’ve been together ever since.

We were initially just friends while we worked together.We got along so well and loved each other’s company because we had similar personalities and shared the same humor (dry). I knew she was the one within 3 months of dating – she’s gorgeous, patient, and above-all, very funny. It didn’t take long for me to realize she was a keeper.

We both moved to Connecticut in 2017 for really one overriding reason – our love for the city of New York and the Yankees. We spend a lot of our weekends in NYC, and our favorite spot in the entire city is Dumbo/Brooklyn Bridge Park. We find it absolutely gorgeous every time we walk this area. It was a no-brainer in my mind to choose Brooklyn Bridge Park as our proposal spot.

I knew exactly where and when to propose (i.e. Brooklyn Bridge park, our favorite spot ever, and at dusk, to capture Manhattan skyline perfectly)

Matthew and Michelle met in the summer of 2007 through a mutual friend, who had an epiphany one day and thought that they would make a great couple. They talked a little before actually meeting in person, and eventually met face-to-face outside of a pizza place one afternoon before Matt headed into the city that evening to see a band. “We ended up talking for so long that Matt missed the train to the city, but he obviously didn’t mind.”

Michelle was drawn to Matthew’s confidence and smile. “He has the most amazing smile that you can’t help but to be filled with warmth and happiness when you see it. He can light up a whole room and my whole heart just by himself and giving a big grin!” Michelle has always wanted to have a picnic at Central Park, but Matthew always partially blew it off, partly because he’s not the best organizer, and partly because he wanted to save it for a special day. Also, in high school and college he played and sang in bands, but never really sang to Michelle. She always would ask him to sing for her, but he never would out of embarrassment. The proposal was the perfect opportunity to give her both things she’s been asking for, for so long (and a diamond ring).

Montrell had a MUCH bigger plan in store! Knowing how important the city was to Kerry and her family, he secretly plotted to propose to her in Central Park. To make this plan even more special, he hired Paparazzi Proposals for surprise engagement photography to capture every minute leading up to, during and after his proposal!

They first met on Match.com. When they finally met up in person, Montrell was instantly awestruck by her beauty. With an infectious smile and adorable dimples, he was smitten. However, what drew him even more to her was that she was equally beautiful on the inside. It wasn’t long after that he realized he wanted to marry her, and began planning his special proposal.

He started by developing an elaborate engagement plan that included a fake reality web series, a full camera crew and production team, along with  hair & makeup artists! He effectively convinced her that her and her friends would be featured in the filming of a new web series playfully entitled, “You Have No Idea.” As a full film and production crew showed up, she literally had NO idea what was really about to happen.

But he didn’t stop there! Before they even made it to the big “taping,” Brian had arranged multiple stops for her at several spots near and dear to them as a couple. Once her unofficial “tour” was down, the real magic began as she made it to the location at which they would be “filming”.
