Ashley wanted to create a special, romantic and intimate proposal, with our help we had  a blanket laid out in a beautiful spot in Connecticut’s lighthouse park with a big bunch of flowers waiting!

As Ashley proposed we had our cameras snapping to capture the whole moment.

The leap year engagement tradition

Although there is no longer a stigma about women proposing to men, it is still not very common and that’s why the 29th of February on a leap year is such a magical day. Who needs a better excuse? If you’re sure that the time is right then why not pop the question and take advantage?

It is believed this tradition was started in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year.

Advice on asking a man to marry you

• Sit down and talk about it first so that you can gauge what the outcome will be.
• Don’t steal his thunder! If he’s planning to pop the question then he may not appreciate you getting there first.
• A ring is really not appropriate for most men however you can look into bands or other kinds of ring that he can wear on other fingers.

• If your man is a massive sports fan, why not combine the two!? If your in Chicago you have an ice hockey game that could be the perfect backdrop to your unique proposal! With the Blackhawkes vs Maple Leafs
• In Philadelphia enjoy your favorite basketball team play and you could be the half time entertainment! With the 76er playing Oklahomer why not propose on the big screen
• With Madison Square Gardens one of the greatest sporting venues why not propose as the Nicks take on Cleveland!
• With the mad rush from Valentines over why not pick a great restaurant you have always wanted to visit and make it that romantic evening you have always dreamed of!
• Or just keep it simple and spontaneous! Bundled up in warm clothes strolling though your favorite park is also a great time to turn the everyday into the the most romantic day of your lives so far.
