NYC Proposal Photography: Adam’s Central Park Baseball Engagement

Adam and Jessy are two New Yorkers with a shared passion for baseball.  So Adam wanted to make sure the game was a part of their engagement!

He chose the Softball Fields of Central Park as the location and reached out to Paparazzi Proposals to help him capture the proposal moment.  As a unique surprise, Adam had a softball engraved with a personalized message.  During their game of catch, when Jessy wasn’t looking, he switched out the regular ball for one that read “Jessy, will you marry me?”

Our photographer captured each frame of her incredible reaction and joined them afterwards for a fun post-proposal engagement session!

We caught up with the happily engaged couple to learn more about how they met and fell in love!:

How and when did you guys meet?

We first met on October 2, 2014. We both work pretty hectic hours at work so we ended up meeting up for our first date at a bar at 10:00pm on a Thursday night. While that doesn’t sound like it’d lead to a lasting relationship – it worked out!

What was the first thing that attracted you to one another?

Adam: Her beauty, of course. But in just our first conversion, we were able to connect right away on so many levels. She has a great sense of humor. She’s athletic and loves playing and watching sports (unfortunately she’s a Yankees fan, but I’m still hopeful that I can convert her to the Mets one day…). She’s incredibly smart with a great head on her shoulders in addition to being driven and hard-working. We even like the same books and tv shows.

Jessy: Initially? A 6’4, handsome, athletic guy? What’s there not to like? Once I got to know him better, I quickly learned he is hands down the most amazing, thoughtful, polite, caring, unbelievable person I’ve ever met. Anyone who knows him will say that about him. His looks don’t stink, either. I am incredibly lucky.

When did you know that they were the one?

New York City Proposal Ideas Adam - 24

Adam chose the NYC Proposal Photography Package, and added on a post-proposal portrait session

Jessy: It was about a month into dating and my best friend from college was in town from Chicago. Adam had heard me talk so much about her and she and I speak every day. Adam knew how important it was to me to have them meet since she doesn’t visit New York that often. The three of us spent a Sunday afternoon walking through a street fair on Broadway and the entire time Adam engaged her in conversation, got to know her, asked her questions and had a great time. He really showed me that getting to know her was important to him, because it was important to me. I remember walking down the street thinking that I snagged an unbelievable guy and I knew I never wanted to let him go.

Adam: One night we both got home from work, picked up dinner and just hung out and had a relaxing night. And that’s when it hit me – it’s easy to have fun when you’re going out on dates and running around and everything – but that’s not always real life. We even have the best time together when we’re just taking it easy – and that was the moment when I realized how special our relationship was, how much fun we have together, and that she was the one for me.

Why did you choose to propose where you did?

Jessy loves softball and played in college. During the summer, she’s in a million different leagues and we try to go and play whenever we can. Softball holds a special place in her heart. So I felt proposing on a softball field would be very sentimental for her, and be a great place for us to begin the next chapter in our lives together.

Did anyone help you plan the proposal?

My idea, but had input from both sides of the family for the details. For example, my original plan was to write “Will You Marry Me?” with a marker on a ball, but Jessy’s brother actually found a company online that does laser engravings – which obviously looks much better.

Where did you purchase the ring?

Howard Engle Inc. They did an unbelievable job in understanding what we wanted and helping me design it!
