“We met on a dating app a little over two years ago. In the beginning, we would jokingly tell people we met in the park, while Renee was painting on an easel and Chris was out birding. It sounds a little less cliche than “we met on on dating app.” For some reason no one ever believed us…”

2) What was the first thing that attracted you to one another?

Renee: “We had great chemistry from the beginning. Hanging out with Chris was always effortless and tons of fun, and we’ve been having fun together ever since.”

Chris: “Renee was beautiful, tall, athletic, intelligent, silly and so down to earth.”

3) When did you know that they were the one?

Renee: “I can’t remember a specific moment where I realized Chris was the one. I knew within a few months that there was no way I could spend my life without Chris in it, and that meant that eventually we would end up getting married. We made a few long term plans, talked about the future without question, and somehow were always on the same page knowing that whatever our future held we would be in it together.”

Chris: “I knew within a few months I was falling in love with Renee. I realized one night I just couldn’t live without her, and the rest is history!”

4) Why did you choose to propose where you did?

“I spent a lot of time thinking about places that were important to us, places we would go again in the future and places that would look nice, of course. The Lurie Garden is a beautifully manicured oasis somewhat hidden in Millennium Park. It’s a place we’ll return to in the future to reflect on the moment.”

 

6) Where did you purchase the ring?

“Renee inherited her ring from her Grandmother, so Chris had to coordinate with her parents to get the ring from her extended family in Cincinnati. We planned a brunch all together a few weeks before the proposal, Renee none the wiser of the real reason for the occasion. Renee’s parents discreetly handed the ring to Chris in a clandestine maneuver during brunch!”
