Lauren thought Nicholas was taking her on a spontaneous, romantic trip to New York, but little did she know that he would make it a trip she would never forget.

Nick shared with us the journey they’ve shared, from the moment they first met, to the moment he asked her for the promise of forever.

“Lauren and I met 3 years ago at the gym. I ran into her best friend at the juice bar and told her to tell Lauren she was my future princess. She must have liked what she heard because, only a week or so later, we got to talking. One thing led to another and, now, here we are! I don’t think either of us are able to pinpoint exactly what it was that drew each other in, but I also think that was exactly why we constantly wanted more of each other each and every day. I believe we were a breathe of fresh air for each other. We had so much in common yet grew up in two completely different worlds. As cliche as this sounds…Lauren and I both knew very, very early that what we had in front of us was a special once-in-a-lifetime kind of love that we could never let go. I would say within the first week we were together. There was a lot of build up prior to us talking, so when we finally did, we were both a big ball of love and emotion. I was looking for something that was different and very scenic. We are both from Maryland and neither of us had ever been to Brooklyn yet, and we wanted to see the beautiful views it has to offer. It was definitely right up our alley, and we really enjoyed it.”

She says, “Shawn and I met years ago at Myrtle Beach. We had a lot of the same mutual friends, so we’d see each other out, occasionally. Eventually, I moved back home to Virginia to grow my clothing boutique and didn’t see him for a while. On April 2nd, we both attended a mutual friend’s wedding, Evan and Courtney. Not knowing either of us would be there, we are so thankful for not only their marriage, but that we were both able to attend.  I loved who Shawn was as a person (and the way others would talk/talk about him). We had known each other for a few years and, whenever I’d see him out, he was always so handsome and had the most beautiful smile. He was so pleasant to be around and always made sure everyone around him was having the best time.  To say that when I did see him out my heart skipped a beat would be an understatement.”

 

“We both literally knew we were going to spend the rest of our life with each other from the moment we “re-saw” each other at Evan and Courtney’s wedding. I can remember going to the bathroom right after their ceremony, and when I came out, Shawn was coming out of the men’s restroom. We hugged and chatted for a minute and, then, I walked over to my brother and said “He is the man I am going to marry one day.”  He literally TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. A few drinks later (haha) and a pep talk from my brother, I got up enough courage to ask Shawn to dance with me. He grabbed my hand and took me to the dance floor, and spun me around for the next 3 hours! “Purple Rain” was the very first song we ever danced to and, for months after, we would hear that song in the most random places. We’d always laugh and dance a little, because it’d take us back to the BEST night of our life.”

 

He says, “Whit had always told me she dreamed of a winter, NYC proposal, as NYC is her favorite place to visit. I would tell her that wasn’t ever going to happen, because I could never make it a surprise (but boy did I!). Whitney and I always talked about our (one day) son, Bo, and when I was communicating with James (of Paparazzi Proposals) trying to decide on a place, I knew immediately “Bow Bridge” in Central Park was where I would ask her to be my wife. I wanted to make sure I made all her dreams come true (and then some). Whitney’s mom and brother played a big part in planning the proposal. She was supposed to fly to Myrtle Beach (she lives in Virginia and I live in South Carolina) December 9th for my company’s Christmas party. Luckily her car was in South Carolina, so her mom was taking her to the airport that morning. I drove to Virginia the night before to surprise her at the airport the next morning. The very first time I told her I loved her, I picked her up from the airport in South Carolina and had a sign that said “Ms. Rife” and when I flipped it over it said, “I love you”. So it was only fitting when I jumped out from the delta sign, I was holding a sign that said “New York?” With the help of Karen and Brennan, we were able to totally surprise her, although she almost froze to death because she thought she was coming to Myrtle Beach for the weekend.”

After all, how could she forget when Brian arranged for us to capture every moment. View all the moments before, during and after their magical engagement, here! We had a chance to speak to the newly-engaged couple, and they shared with us how they met and, inevitably, how they fell in love.

“We ‘met’ online in the beginning of November 2014 and went on our first date on November 19, 2014. I had recently moved to Fort Lauderdale, and, as soon as I met Caitlin, I knew it was the start of something special.  I was attracted to Caitlin’s kind nature and strong family values. She will go above and beyond to make everyone around her happy and never ask for anything in return. I knew she was the one after she stuck around and supported me through 8 months of training for an Ironman triathlon. Being able to share that accomplishment with her was amazing, and I knew she was the only one I wanted to share my life’s accomplishments with. I always wanted to propose on a special trip that we took together. When Caitlin and I decided to take a trip to New York for our 2-year anniversary, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to propose. We both love being outside and I felt that Central Park offered a great location for the proposal as there would be secluded areas for us to share the private moment together.” -Brian 

“I was attracted to Brian’s genuineness, I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what made me feel that way, but I remember going home after our first date and telling my mom and sister what a genuine person he was. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to stick around longer to see what this was all about. (His smile wasn’t too bad, either.) Brian and I make a damn good team. We have the same ridiculous sense of humor and are passionate about a lot of the same things. Life with him these past two years have taught me so much and have been so much fun! What really sealed the deal for me was this past August when something unexpected happened in my family. It was hard to understand what was going on, but he understood that he just needed to simply be there for me and he was, more than I could’ve ever asked for. After that, there was no question that we could do this, for better or for worse.” -Caitlin

“Chana and I first met at her work.   She was a blackjack dealer for the Sands Casino, and I was simply a player. We met about 3 years ago, however, we both were involved in other relationships. During that 3 year period, I would always stop by her table or walk by and just give her a smile or tease her.  Sometimes, I would just look at her hand, as she was engaged at the time, but respectfully never pushed the issue. Her smile and personality was what attracted me, but I also had a lot of respect for her as a person. She would light up a room or brighten your day with that smile, and she always knew how to make you feel better.”

“So, this past May, I was just randomly speaking with her good friend Sarah, discussing my current single life status of 6 months, and she asked me who I liked.    Well, it was kind of funny because Sarah was a poker dealer, and Chana, now a Dual Rate Supervisor/dealer for the Sands, was working at the tables beside the poker room. Thus, I pointed to Chana. So, Sarah said to me, ‘You do realize Chana is single now and for several months.’  I almost fell off my chair and told her she really just rocked my world. A few weeks passed and, once again, I found myself playing poker, and Sarah was my dealer and going on break. Chana was working the same blackjack area beside the poker room and finally Sarah had enough of me just talking and begged me to just ask her out to dinner. She decided to take the ball into her own hands and went to speak to Chana and told her she is going to dinner and that I would  be over to ask her shortly. From that moment, the magic and attraction just blossomed for the both of us. We had a lot of fears, as we both came out of horrible relationships, but quickly those fears became our strengths, as we both knew what we always wanted and deserved. Now, here we are.”

“I chose Rockefeller Center in New York because its atmosphere is so romantic and festive for the holidays. I had some reservations because Chana has never ice skated and I knew she would be fearful because of a nasty break in her leg years back. Of course, I kept the whole idea a total surprise, as she is the most difficult person in the world to surprise and figures almost everything out. So, when we arrived and I told her, she wasn’t happy and did it with a lot of resistance. When we got on the ice, she held the rail, and we slowly worked our way around the ice. I tried to pull her off the rail and she was like, ‘Oh, hell no, I’ll stay against the rail.’ I knew getting her to the center of the rink wasn’t going to happen, so I stopped and told her I was tired in order to text Greg (the secret photographer from Paparazzi Proposals) that she wanted to get off the ice now, and she meant now. We passed the 1st exit and she said, ‘Sweetie, we can get off here.’ I told her no, not on an exit, as we were just about to get to the tree, so I texted Greg again and said it’s happening at the rail in front of the statue and, thankfully, he was prepared.   I told her everything I wanted to say and dropped down to one knee and proposed. She was so excited for the engagement and so fearful of falling, that she actually forgot to answer me.  When I stood up, I whispered ‘Sweetie, you didn’t say yes yet.’ Upon this realization, she clung to the wall with that beautiful smile and said ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ That’s how our whole relationship has been.  We have our own unique, memorable moments. I am the luckiest man in the world.”

Peter surprised Maria with reservations to River Cafe, but suggested to walk by the jetty, which offers beautiful views of the water, the one-of-a-kind city skyline, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Read below for their love story on how they met and, eventually, became engaged!

Peter and Maria met during sophomore year at St. John’s University while taking a Greek language course for an ‘easy A’. Little did they know that in addition to getting A’s, they would also find the person to spend the rest of their lives with.

Peter was (and still is) most attracted to her personality and her big beautiful eyes. Maria loves how tall he is and, from the beginning, thought he was very good looking and funny. 

Soon enough, they both knew that they had found the one.

“Once we knew that we could tolerate each other’s craziness and pet peeves, we knew that we would end up spending the rest of our lives together,” Maria says.  “And the fact that we can both watch and recite episodes of Friends over and over again…it was a done deal!”

Peter chose to propose at the River Cafe because they have been planning to eat there for quite sometime now.

He says, “Maria loves to see the skyline and Brooklyn bridge, and this was the perfect place to pop the big question.”

“We met at a bus stop in college and, then, a few weeks later went on a date. I was drawn to her happiness! She was always laughing and smiling and just fun to be around.” (Stefania says that she was drawn to his sense of humor and love for Harry Potter. No one has ever made her laugh like him.)

“I knew she was the one once we made the decision to move to New York and live together about 2 years ago.I chose to propose at Bryant Park because it is her favorite park in NYC!”

Growing up together and being able to frequently see each other, they learned a lot about each other from a young age and watch each other grow and change.

Jacob knew Mia was the one about a year ago. Starting their 20s, he knew it was time to start a new chapter in their lives.

Josh and Lindy met on a teen tour in 2006. He was 15, and she was 14. She was wearing a green Abercrombie shirt. After spending an afternoon in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry and Navy Pier, he knew they had something special. This was especially confirmed when they shared their first kiss at the frozen foods aisle of a supermarket, doing their weekly junk food shopping.

Lindy had an exotic look to her and was spunky and confident, which according to Josh, he was not. Though he knew she was the one when he was 15-years-old, he knew for sure some time later, at his cousin’s wedding.

“Showing Lindy off to so many family members who’d never met her and letting loose on the dance floor just crystallized everything for me and made me realize that I was never going to let her go.”

Over the course of 10 years, there were so many moments in which Lindy knew he was the one. However, the one that stuck out was seeing how well he interacted with her nieces. The loved he showed and continues to show for them daily proved to her that he was husband material!

Josh loved the idea of incorporating New York City in one way or another into the proposal.

“Lindy is the reason I live here, and she is the reason I’ve had so many incredible experiences in the city. She’s always finding new places to explore. She’s thrown me two birthday parties on the roof, and it was my turn to give her a moment she’ll never forget. I also needed an outdoor spot because capturing this moment was very important to me.”

For the past two years, Josh and Lindy had been traversing all five boroughs to visit NYC’s 25 most iconic pizza places. Fast-forward 24 pizza restaurants later, they were only missing one. Given how central a role pizza has played in their lives, Josh knew pizza should be a central theme in his engagement proposal. He set up a trail of empty pizza boxes, each with a written memory from a time that he knew he loved her along with photos. The trail of pizza boxes took Lindy down memory lane, reliving unforgettable moments in their relationship. The last pizza box had a pizza from one of their favorite places and had “Will you marry me?” written on the box.

He purchased the stunning ring from Alain Jewelers.
