As he dropped to one knee, Amber brought her hands to her face to wipe away tears of joy.  “Yes!” She said, and he slipped a sparkling engagement ring from Jared’s onto her finger— all while our discreet proposal photographer snapped away!  Too cute!

We caught up with the happy couple to learn more about how they met and fell in love!

Finding The One:

These University of Iowa college sweethearts met at a “teeter-totter-athon” philanthropy event, co-hosted by his fraternity and her sorority.

Cody chose our Proposal Photography Package to capture his picturesque New Orleans engagement!

They hit it off instantly, and kept chatting throughout the whole 48 hour event.  Initially attracted to Amber’s bubbly personality, Cody was drawn in by how easily conversation flowed between them, and her unfailing ability to cheer him up when he was down.

Cody knew something was special about Amber, and made an effort to keep in touch— which was made a lot easier by the serendipitous fact that they were placed in housing next door to each other for the following school year.

Cody says he knew Amber was the one after about two years of dating, when they decided to move in together.  Everyone warned them that moving in together can be a challenging experience, but for Cody and Amber, it only made their bond grow stronger!  He knew he had found the person he wanted to share the rest of his life with and began think of creative ways to pop the question.

The Proposal:

With help from his parents and his sister, he came up with the perfect proposal plan and reached out to Paparazzi Proposals to make sure each incredible moment was captured with stunning photos.

Cody and Amber had already planned a trip with both of their families to New Orleans, so Amber and her parents had no idea that the reason for the vacation was a surprise marriage proposal!  The couple got up early the day of and went for a stroll to Jackson Square, where he popped the question with a sparkling Jared’s engagement ring!

 Afterwards, their families joined them to celebrate, posing with the happy couple during their engagement shoot for a few post-proposal group portraits at nearby Bourbon Street.
