How Did You Guys Meet?

Maeve and I first met just after finishing our third year at the University of Georgia. Almost everyone had already left town for summer, but a mutual friend convinced each of us to stay and go out one night so we could be introduced. We met out on the town and spent the rest of the night talking over drinks and pizza. Soon after, we parted ways to return home for the summer, and as Maeve likes to point out, I never called her. However, things quickly picked back up when we returned in the fall, and we formally went on our first date.

What First Attracted You To The Other?

I was instantly attracted to Maeve’s intelligence and drive, but was equally struck by how down to earth and engaging she was.

I thought Matt looked adorable in his glasses, and was impressed by his mature demeanor. The passion and drive with which he approached life attracted me even more.

Why Did You Choose This Location To Proposal?

DC has always been a special place to both Maeve and I; so I knew I wanted to do it in town. I knew Meridian Hill Park would be beautiful and provide some privacy- both things I wanted for our engagement. We actually do go on picnics from time to time, so I knew using it as a cover wouldn’t arouse any suspicion!

How They Met:

Patrick and Gabriella met while both attending the University of Rhode Island. With a large group of mutual friends in common, the two clicked from the start and quickly realized how much they shared in common.

How They Knew They Had Met “The One”

Gabriella first realized Patrick was the one when once they began talking about the future and what each wanted. Their wants, hopes and dreams, however far-fetched or silly, were almost identical. She also loved how much fun they would have on the simplest of dates. As he stood by and supporting her during her most vulnerable times, it only strengthened the feeling that she had found the man she was destined to be with!

Patrick’s revelation came after the first year they started dating. He admitted, that before they met he seemed to lack motivation and direction in his life. However, as their relationship progressed and started to blossom, he suddenly found himself working harder than he ever has. The more he did so, the more Gabriella supported and pushed him. When he realized she was just as caring and supportive when he would fall, he knew this was the woman he wished to spend the rest of his life with.

Why Did You Choose This Location To Propose?

We chose New York because it has always been an important place to both of us. We visit often, and have always talked about how much we would love to someday live here. As it turns out, we both had privately dreamt about someday being a part of this city before we even met! The Brooklyn Heights Promenade was a perfect spot to propose as it provides a stunning view of the city, a place close to both of our hearts. Getting engaged somewhere so special to both of us really felt right.

On a bright and sunny spring day, Styse took his special someone for a walk through the park.  The walk ended when the couple came across a picnic blanket, on which rested a dozen crimson roses.  As she took in the gorgeous surprise, a guitarist began to play for the two of them—and the romance was palpable!

After pulling a single rose from the bouquet and handing it to her, Styse dropped to one knee and surprised her once more—this time, with a stunning ring!

Little did his fiancée know, Styse had contacted Paparazzi Proposals to help him plan and capture the magic of the moment, and once she had said yes, our sneaky snapper introduced himself and they continued with their shoot!

The two meandered along San Francisco’s picturesque shore for some playful engagement photos.  With the Golden Gate Bridge majestically gracing the background, the happy couple spread the blanket out on the beach and took in the sights while our photographer documented each amazing moment.

Jess loves the outdoors and the charm of Central Park.  With both of them having busy schedules, Adam knew a park proposal provided the best option for a special moment. With a quaint spread from Perfect Picnic NYC, Adam knelt down on one knee and presented his Jess with a stunning ring from Haas Designs— and she said yes!  After their big moment, the couple took a romantic stroll around the park to shoot engagement photos before meeting up with friends and family at a nearby Times Square restaurant.

But before the story ended with a perfect proposal, it started somewhere!

Back in 2010, Adam was in his first year of dental school at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jess was discussing a research project in one of Adam’s classes.  As soon as he saw her, he knew she was The One.

His friends thought he was crazy for knowing so early on that he wanted to marry Jess, but the connection he felt with her was undeniable, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

That’s exactly what Colin chose to do in his stunning rooftop proposal to Irene.

After work, the pair had a routine.  They would take time to unwind and catch up with each other, sometimes venturing up to their roof deck to share a cocktail.  With the city bustle far below, they were able to refocus on each other and tune out the Manhattan buzz.  It was their time; a moment that they dedicated solely to each other.

Julie chose the memorial for her stunning proposal because she knew Amy would appreciate the simple elegance of the landmark.

“D.C. is a special area to me and I want it to be for both of us,” said Julie.  “We live in Boston, so this way we can have a special trip to go on to celebrate our engagement spot.”

The pair met through Julie’s high school roommate and friend, who worked with Amy and thought the pair would make an excellent match.

For this glowing couple, the sparks actually weren’t there in the beginning.

“We didn’t feel the right kind of chemistry,” said Julie.  “In fact, we were each a bit bored!”

Both underwhelmed after their first meeting, they were convinced to go on a second date by their mutual friend.  They realized they truly enjoyed each other’s company when they realized they could make each other laugh.  The second date ignited the spark of a lasting love that brought the pair to the memorial steps last weekend, where Paparazzi Proposals had a hidden photographer to capture every beautiful moment.

The couple purchased a pair of stunning engagement rings–Amy’s from Long’s Jewelers, and Julie’s from Fairbanks and Perry Goldsmith’s.

Lili and Mike’s proposal story is modern-meets-classic romance.  It began with a dating app and grew with love letters.  The most recent chapter: this stunning sunset rooftop proposal in the Meatpacking District‘s Maritime Hotel Penthouse Terrace Suite.

Tea light candles and a path of rose petals added to the room’s already magical atmosphere.  When Lili got to the room, Mike was waiting for her.  He knelt down on one knee, presented Lili with an absolutely stunning ring from Rubin Trading— and she said yes!

A little over a year ago, Mike and Lili were matched up on a dating app that connected people based on mutual friendships, and immediately struck up an engaging conversation.

Lili asked their mutual friend about Mike, and was advised that he was a great guy and that she should take their relationship to the next level–by meeting with him face to face.

Mike remembers everything about their first date, down to the day, date and location: March 23, 2014, at Crave Fish Bar on 2nd Avenue.  Lili said Mike’s striking blue eyes and kind nature had her falling immediately.  Mike was instantly attracted to her beauty and the way in which she carried herself.

“She presented herself with a refined elegance and just seemed so well put-together,” he said.   “She was very driven in life and with her career.  She had an amazing smile and seemed to have a very kind heart.  She is the total package and everything just felt very natural with us from the start.”

While they didn’t necessarily know right away that they had both found The One, the pivotal moment that let both of them know that their strong connection was growing into a long and lasting love was an epic, month-long trip to Europe for a friends’ wedding that Lili had planned long before meeting Mike.

Shortly before the trip, their relationship had just become “official,” which had them both wondering: would they be missing each other like crazy, or would the spark fizzle out while Lili travelled abroad?

Before leaving, it already seemed like things were becoming more serious. Lili and Mike surprised each other with gifts, and exchanged letters– one to open for each day they were apart from each other.

They said the trip seemed like an eternity for them both.  By the time it was over they were overjoyed to be reunited.

“I’ve never been so happy to see someone as I was when she turned the corner walking out of that airport terminal!” Said Mike, recalling the day she returned.

As their relationship grew, Mike knew he had to plan something as perfect as their love to ask Lili for her hand in marriage.  He settled for the night of Lili’s birthday for the big surprise and set about making it a truly memorable event. He hired professional hair and make up artists from GlamSquad to arrive at Lili’s apartment that afternoon to get her and her two friends dolled up for what Lili thought was just a special celebration. Meanwhile, he and his sister Kellie decorated the room.  He contacted Tao Downtown to deliver a beautiful dinner straight to the rooftop suite, and made reservations at the nearby restaurant Revel, where Lili’s friends and the couple’s immediate family members would join up with the two of them afterwards for a birthday celebration turned mini-engagement party.

It was a lot of work, and not much time, but the evening was perfect– and Paparazzi Proposals captured every moment!

He paused in the serene silence of a waterfront Gazebo, knelt down on one knee, and presented Saharnaz with a sparkling custom ring from Adiamor Jewelers.

As he placed the ring on her hand, Saharnaz could barely contain her joy– and Paparazzi Proposals was there to capture their perfect moment.

But all happy endings have beginnings too!  For Sultan and Saharnaz, their fairytale started in their college cafeteria in January of 2008.  A mutual friend insisted that the two would be perfect for each other and invited them both to lunch.

“After meeting, we ended up being in the same Western Civilization class,” said Saharnaz. “And it turns out after all, that Layla–my childhood friend–was absolutely right!”

For Sultan, it was love at first sight.  Saharnaz’s bright smile and bubbly personality won him over.  He began casually courting her, walking her to class and doing everything he could to make her smile, dancing in the hallways and cracking jokes.

It worked–Saharnaz said that Sultan’s ability to make her laugh hysterically that had her falling for him.

Sultan knew Saharnaz was The One from the first day they talked.

“It really isn’t easy to describe it in words, but it’s a feeling of when you know, you know!” He said.

His initial instincts were confirmed as Saharnaz stood by him, through good times and bad.  Saharnaz said their romance was rocky in the beginning, but after reconnecting in June 2009, she knew the moment she saw him that she never wanted to be apart from him again.

As their love grew, Sultan began planning an amazing proposal.  Both Saharnaz and Sultan loved Old Town Alexandria, and the couple had shared many romantic dates there, so Sultan decided it would be the perfect location to pop the question.  He enlisted Saharnaz’s friends to plan a “girls night out” so he could go and ask her parents for her hand in marriage, and contacted Paparazzi Proposals to capture the magic.
