Joe shared with us the night they first met and the moments that led to his engagement proposal in Boston. He arranged for us to capture every moment.

“We met at Empire on the fateful night of October 18th (maybe 19th) depending on which hour it actually was that evening, and who you’re asking. I had just purchased a round of fireball shots for the guys that had yet to be consumed, when Shana tried to snag one. I called her out on the attempt and explained that her friend (little red riding hood as I called him) who was purchasing drinks for the girls had actually purchased her a vodka redbull instead, but I did offer to buy her the shot she so desired. Shana proceeded to ask me where in PA I was from because of my accent, to which I replied Erie, PA. This turned out to be the relationship catalyst because Shana just so happened to be headed to Erie, PA for work around Thanksgiving, which gave me the perfect opportunity to snag her number and ask her out on a date. The rest, as they say, is history. We have talked everyday since then and, of course, are now engaged. The crazy thing is, neither of us really wanted to go out that night, but were convinced by our friends to grab some drinks and let loose. Looking back, we’re glad we did.”

“It was somewhere after my birthday in January of 2015 and before Valentine’s Day that year that I knew she was the one. I had a moment of reflection from our first date to that point and realized how much I had been working to put her first and how much better we each tried to be for one another. I realized then that we shared the same love and just had to actually start saving money to put a ring on it. As far as planning the proposal,  a lot of it had to do with a place she wouldn’t suspect a proposal to occur. I had spent a few nights looking at skyline canvas artwork since we don’t have a lot in our house and, every now and then, I get those oddball interests. We also love to go to the Seaport district in Boston, so I played it off that day as really craving this delicious octopus dish and tasty cocktails at a restaurant called Committee, which Shana also happens to love. This way we could have a quick afternoon/early evening date before heading to meet up with friends at a concert. All in all, I really wanted an amazing view and something for her to remember, not to mention the place we met was right down the street so we could also go take photos there for nostalgia since that was where it all began a few years earlier.”

On top of Gibbet Hill there’s Bancroft’s castle. Also a historical and a romantic spot secluded enough to have that special one on one moment.

4. Boston Public Garden

Boston Public Garden is amazingly stunning. Propose here as swans glide through the lake and maybe you’ll be lucky enough for some light rain for that picture perfect notebook shot.

5. Nashoba Valley Winery 

The winery is a perfect place for a picnic as you bite on a fresh apple and share some delicious wine and celebrate while getting charmingly tipsy, or why not, drunk on love.

However, he didn’t receive the notification until he was already back in Boston. That didn’t deter them from starting a conversation. Nick planned ahead for his next work trip in Kansas City and scheduled to fly in a day before his colleagues.

They spent the day at the art fair and went on dates every consecutive night. Prior to leaving, he promised to fly her out to Boston. A couple months later, Kristin was on a plane.

Nick loved Kristin’s warm personality and approach to life.

“She has a great sense of humor, though I would argue her comedic chops are unintentional.”

Aside from his perfectly flowing hair, the first thing that attracted Kristen to Nick was his smile.

“We had instant chemistry and everything was very natural from the start. I felt like I knew him forever in just a few days. It was such a weird situation because he lived half way across the country, but I never once questioned it or thought that we couldn’t make it work. When I am with him I feel complete and I knew that I never wanted to be without him ever again.”

Nick wanted a beautiful summer day as the backdrop to his proposal. He had one of Kristin’s friends arrange a fake “girls dinner” and, on their way, he was waiting for her with a diamond ring. He had the stunning engagement ring custom-made by My Trio Rings.

How They Met

Leighann is a veteran advocate for a veteran outreach organization in Richard’s hometown, and on January 2, 2015 she came over to Richard’s house to help him write a resume and consider the possibility of transitioning out of the Marine Corps.

That day, he was entranced by her beautiful, big brown eyes, and she was charmed by his sense of humor and positive aura. Leighann says she is shy and usually avoids eye contact, but as she helped Richard out with his resume, their eyes continued to meet and she felt a gravitational pull that she just couldn’t shake!

Two big things happened that day. First, her counseling made him decide to stay in the Marine Corps. And second, it sparked the beginning of an incredible romance!

Richard knew Leighann was The One when she came with him to North Carolina before his six-month deployment. Their connection was absolutely undeniable, and they both realized that had found the person they wanted to spend the rest of their life with!

Recalling how Leighann had mentioned that she loved Boston, he chose the Public Gardens in the heart of the city as the perfect place to propose, and added on a horse and carriage so that she would feel like a princess on her incredible day! He even reached out to her good friend Heather to help pick the perfect restaurant for their post-proposal, celebratory engagement dinner, and had his father help him select just the right diamond and setting to sweep her off her feet!

When they reached the footbridge, Richard dropped to one knee and proposed with the custom engagement ring designed by Richard’s family friend and Master Bench Jeweler Alexander Woo. And our sneaky snapper caught it all with stunning Boston proposal photography before joining the couple for a beautiful engagement session!
