Tyler carefully selected Rice Park in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, as the perfect place to propose.  He thought of how romantic it would be to pop the question in the city where they both grew up, and how stunning the Minneapolis proposal photography would be set against the twinkling holiday lights in the park trees!

Tyler and Sara have known each other since they were kids.  Tyler played hockey with Sara’s older brother and they grew up around the rinks together.

Tyler says he was initially drawn in by Sara’s beautiful eyes and smile, and by the fact that she also played hockey.  The feeling was mutual.  Sara noticed his good looks, and was charmed by his soft side and romantic personality.

There was always something special there, but they didn’t start dating until after they graduated high school when Sara was attending college in Connecticut and Tyler was playing junior hockey in Canada.

The more time they spent together, the more they realized they had found The One!

“I realized he’s the only person on earth I could spend all day with and not get sick of,” said Sara.  “We have a lot o fun together!”

“I couldn’t have said it better myself,” Tyler added.  “We can be doing absolutely nothing and still have the best time just goofing around!”

So, Tyler set about to planning a picture-perfect engagement!  He wanted it to be something that paid tribute to where they were from, and made it easy for them to celebrate with nearby friends and family.  After a nighttime stroll through Rice Park, he dropped to one knee and proposed!  Our discreet proposal photographer captured each magical moment, before joining the pair for a beautiful engagement session.
