Kunjan invited Stuti to visit the University of Michigan, a place that holds special meaning for both of them.

Little did she know, Kunjan arranged with their family and friends to surprise her with a day that she would never forget.

Decorating a scenic spot on the campus, she was shocked to find Kunjan down on one knee.

We got to speak with the newly-engaged couple and learn their romantic love story.

How and when did you guys meet?

“We met in Ann Arbor on the UofM campus. Both of us were in school at U of M and had met a few times at some parties. Eventually we started hanging out together with our friends in a group and started texting constantly for two months. When we hung out a couple of times, we started to hang out a few times alone. We were still just friends but it was really because we liked each other but didn’t know how to take it to the next level. Eventually one night after drinks with friends while watching the 2016 elections, we went over to her place after to hang out for a bit. After some small talk, she brought up the question of whether I liked her or not, and I told her that I only liked hanging out with her as a friend, because I wasn’t sure if she felt the same way at the time. But then she told me that she liked me and I didn’t know how to take back what I had already said. That night after I left, she called her friends and her parents, sad that I had rejected her even though all our friends had said that it was obvious that I liked her back but I had just never made a move. They told her to just give him the cold shoulder and he’ll realize it soon enough. Eventually I came to my senses and brought up the courage to talk with her and tell her that I liked her too, and that’s how we decided to make it official!” -Kunjan

What was the first thing that attracted you to one another?

“If I’m being honest, her cheeks! That’s the first thing I noticed when I first saw her, her cheeks stood out the most as they were nice and chubby. It made her look very adorable, and I always wanted to just go and pull them like you do with babies.” -Kunjan

“His personality! From the minute I met him, I was very attracted to how caring and sweet he was. I know this sounds cliche, but cute little gestures really charmed me! I also really liked how tall he was- when we would hug, I fit right into him – my head perfectly under his chin!” -Stuti

When did you know that they were the one?

“Probably a couple months into the relationship, when we realized we had become very comfortable and happy being with one another. Eventually we started doing so many things together, that even things like grocery shopping became fun when we were with each other.  Seeing ourselves happier than ever together made us realize we could see ourselves together in the long run.” -Kunjan

Why did you choose to propose where you did?

“Because we had both met in at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and started dating there, I chose to propose on campus as it had an emotional value for us. It felt right being across the street from the diag, the center of campus, and also next to the historic fountain used to initiate students entering and leaving the college.” -Kunjan

Did anyone help you plan the proposal?

“Apart from Paparazzi Proposals, my family and her family and a couple of her close friends were involved in helping plan a proposal she would love! It was an ongoing process starting 4 months before because we had to plan when we could do it so her parents could fly in that weekend without her being suspicious. We had some leaks but made it to the end without giving up too much of the surprise!” -Kunjan
